Paragliding
With a paraglider over Rila
Markudjik 2490 м
Paragliding season: March–October
Type of flight – Thermals and Flights
Start:
Option 1: Markudjik 2. Direction –West, for experienced pilots only.Completely thermal conditions. In most cases, it’s quite impulsively and the rock rib nearby formed a slight rotor with light northwest wind.
Option 2: Markudjik 2. Direction – East, northeast of the runway. In summer days when air transportation is not clear the gusting comes from the west and from the east. At such conditions it is better to wait until the direction is constant. When flying to the east if not catch climbing at once the chances are low, so you have to better land on the meadow of Markudjik 1 on 80 m near Yastrebec and restart from there.
Take the cabin lift from Borovets to Yastrebetz then walk down the runway to Markudjik 2 for about 30 minutes. If the lift is closed, take the Musalenska trail for about 4-5 hours. Here cars are prohibited.
Flying from unknown locations can be dangerous; it is advisable to seek help from an experienced local pilot.
